AIDS AWARENESS DAY: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2008
On Wednesday, April 23rd, AIDS Awareness Day is being held for the 7th year at 10 a.m. on the North Steps of the Capitol Building in Hartford. Meetings with legislators will take place throughout the day to keep them informed of critical issues facing persons living with HIV/AIDS and to ask for legislative support. Lunch and snacks will be provided and t-shirts distributed, though if you have one from a prior year, please wear it to the event.
REGION 1 (NEW HAVEN): Buses will leave from APNH (AIDS Project New Haven: 1302 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT) at 8:30 a.m. and from Liberty-Safe Haven (210 State Street, New Haven, CT) at 9 a.m. in the morning. The bus is expected to return before 4 p.m.

REGION 2 (Waterbury/Meriden): Ric Browne offered than the Waterbury Consortia is also hosting a bus for this event. The bus will leave Brass Mall Center (Sears Parking Lot) at 8:30, with a stop at Meriden Community Health Center at 9:15 a.m., then arrive in Hartford

REGION 3 (BRIDGEPORT): A bus will be leaving from Family Services Woodsfield at 475 Clinton Avenue in Bridgeport CT. Time of departure is 8:00 am, leaving no later than 8:30 a.m.. Everyone can sign up at FSW. Return time is estimated at 2:30 p.m.

REGION 4 (STAMFORD/NORWALK): Dennis Torres stated that the Stamford/Norwalk region is sponsoring a van.

REGION 5 (DANBURY): Roberta Stewart stated that the Danbury consortia will be transporting people starting around 8:30. A bus will depart from the AIDS Project Greater Danbury offices at 30 West Street in Danbury. A room is reserved in the LOB. We have invited all representatives and senators from our region to meet with consumers and other constituents after the rally. Lunch will be from 1-2; we will meeti with our delegation after lunch and then return home - anyone who has a shirt from last year should wear it. If you don’t have one, there will be additional t-shirts available at the capital.
